Temple.... of doom... not really... sounded good

Nightlife.

Yo Yo Yo... These are some pics from when me and Brian climbed to the top of the world, or at least to the top of Seoul. Seoul Tower is one of, if not the, highest point in Seoul with 360 panoramic views of the city. Definitely worth the visit for the views alone. The walk through the mountains to get there wasn't that bad either! Oh yeah.......

Goofin

Snow Day!

It Just so happens that Yesterday we strolled by this bridge to find some youngsters havin fun and slidin down on some plastic bags. Considering they were about 50 pounds, and there was just enough ice, it totally worked nice. Yet I dare give it a try as rugburn on the ass didn't sound appealing. But I did tell Carey that this had to be a bad ass spot when it really did snow.
And this is a picture from top the bridge yesterday.
And this is today. mmm. did you find waldo yet?
Needless to say, we woke up with a 9 inch snow fall, and the first thing we could think of doin in this unknown territory, was explore the bridge, where we knew there would be fun to be made. And so we did, the snow was untouched when we got there, so we preceded to make our own way with cardboard and manpower. Until it was smooth enough for us to glide down. And soon enough we were encountered by a bunch of lil o korean kids, on the same mission as us, to slide, glide, and fall on our ass in the cold white snow.

And these are the pix that Carey snapped of the enthusiastic Youngsters.

Jeremy Kicks ASS... Or a SoccerBall from Brian Barnhart Jr on Vimeo.

So, we went out to dinner last night and had some amazing food called Dak Galbi but one of the highlights was the craziness that when on afterwords. Jeremy had been telling us about this soccer game that he kick ass in so we took a walk to the arcade to see if he could live up to his word. It was a pretty amazing sight, there were dozens of people around watching this big American guys kick the shit out of this soccer ball, neon lights were flashing all around us, the cold didn't faze us...

Jeremy didn't quite live up to the expectations, though. He got beat by a skinny Korean teenager but put up a good fight. The kid had good form and Jeremy was relying on his brute strength. Good times had by all and it definitely was a sight to see!

Gettin Creative Wit It

Fucking around on the art museum grounds. Feels good to get creative with these guys . . .

Museum of Contemporary Art SK..

Wanted to keep a simple day, so we decided to check out the MCA Seoul. And what a good decision it was to do so. The initial vibe when walking in and seeing hundreds of screens stacked upon eachother was much more then eye candy. The walls were covered with thousands of small hand painted squares, covering hundreds of feet of wall.
This was just the start of it all, it happens to be the only place in which we were allowed to take pictures, so I did what i could. We ended up exploring the whole museum, spending a few hours enjoying and contemplating many pieces of wonderful art. One being the most interesting Sculpture I have ever seen, It was a man who had his arms stretched out as far as they could go. Maybe 13 feet long, like stretch armstrong, made of bronze. It reminded me of a character from a Shel Silverstein book. It really is a shame that no pictures could be taken, yet a picture would not do any of this work justice, and I am glad that I have added this experience to the memory bank.

HANGOVER!

So, I have to admit, the 1st didn’t start off so hot. We had a blast the night before celebrating New Years Seoul style, but didn’t get to bed until about 630 in the am. Then all three of us somehow managed to wake up at 1030am and had trouble gathering enough energy to really do much. Our brains were fried, our muscles sore, our heads ached, our stomachs hungry. The icing on the cake was that none of us really could fall back asleep so we were left wandering around all day without any clear focus.

But as always, good things come to those who have patience and to those who seek a little adventure. I decided to take my camera and tripod with me to dinner anticipating taking some night shots around the city afterwards. After having some spicy soup at a Vietnamese restaurant to recharge and clear our heads, we came back to the hotel and I almost failed miserably on taking some pictures. At the last second though, instead of taking the elevator up to our room on the 21st floor, I decide to go for a ride to the 26th and see what the tip top of our hotel could provide for me. I wasn’t disappointed…

The beauty of night always has this way of opening up to me in the most unexpected ways. She’s so quiet; so still and serene…. Never to loud; almost always void of people but never lacking in stimulation; always peaceful and spiritual; always warm even in the cold of winter; and always seems to be the perfect match for me. Her beauty is mesmerizing and because of my patience and understanding of her she provides me access to her deepest secrets.

MORE NYE

Just a few of us gettin down with the get down.
Jeremy saved that girls life, pulled her outta sewer she fell in!
When she sees him she says "OHHH MY HERO!" And then makes out with him.
Or hugs him at least!

NYE SEOUL SOUTH KOREA 2010!!

Pregaming at the hotel, waiting for Jeremys friends we lost track of time and they were now waiting for us in the cold subway. So we chugged our "foty" and started our journey out.

With an extremely high police presence we realized not to many people were sneakin in the roman candles as we were. It may not have been as "explosive" as previous years, yet it was still pretty cool..

By the time the hundred thousand people were leaving, it seemed as if everyone had to pee so bad that there were very little words said except, "yo lets hurry, i gotta piss". And after a few failed attempts of finding uncrowded bathrooms, and walking down dark stairways, we finally found a subway bathroom... and oh man... unbelievable... it had to be about 3.5min of euphoria!

The night led us all to go dancing in Hongdae, SK. A college town full of young individuals, music blaring, drunkards, real drunk drunkards, and koreans being carried over their friends shoulders. It was fun to say the least.

We ended up walkin in some club, and dancing til 5:30 in the morn. It was a blast. Sweaty, hot and smoky. The place was jammed with people looking to have a good time. And seeing that we know how to start one hell of a dance party. They came to the right place.

By time we left we bought two big ass bottles of rice wine from a eccentric bike riding merchant with a smile a mile long. Then proceded to eat some delicious food from a street vendor at 5_30 in the morning and stumble in our room. It was a blast. B
